Alan A. Ehrlich, Managing Member

Alan Ehrlich brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial and investment banking to his leadership role at Solutions for Businesses.

He has served as a vice president of Sun Life of America, as vice president for a bank consulting firm and as a senior vice president for an AMEX-listed financial services conglomerate. He also served as a consultant to a NYSE Wall Street firm. He has extensive experience working on complex acquisitions, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), public and private financing and stock valuation.

In addition to his work with large organizations, Ehrlich has also worked with numerous entrepreneurs and possesses a keen understanding of their unique concerns and challenges. He understands the emotions, complexities and critical need for due diligence when dealing with privately held companies.

Ehrlich earned a degree from New York University and also holds numerous financial services certifications.

Example Project

A prominent government affairs firm wanted to secure the company in order to keep the value enhanced. The "inventory" was the "rain makers" that were hired from the White House and Congress. The concept was to share ownership and liquefy some of the founders stock.

We secured financing for operating capital and had the founder sell some of his shares to an employee trust. A note was created by the ESOP trust payable to the selling share holders.

The note payable was paid off and the employees are the majority owners. The very interesting fact is that the proceeds were received by the share holder's tax deferred and the principal payments were tax deductible.

The selling shareholders are still executive officers of the firm.
